    hair1Beauty School Benefits go beyond training. Beauty Schools provide opportunity, security, and profitability for the high school graduate, or the Graduate Record Exam, and the best place to find the best beauty school for you is here, at Beauty Schools Listings.com. I interviewed a successful beauty school graduate recently who chose a career as a hair stylist upon graduation from beauty school because she felt good about the happiness she brought her clients as their hair stylist. That was her reason for attending beauty college in the first place, to make her clients happy.

    Even though she had a talent for cutting and coloring her clients’ hair, she wasn’t confident in dealing with the rare unhappy client…and that’s when she fell back on the training she received at her beauty school. The training you receive at beauty school is not limited to the techniques and logistical curriculum. Beauty schools also prepare you for managerial attributes needed when interacting with clients, marketing, and sales. These classes are beneficial not only to a career in cosmetology but to any field.

    Posted on August 19th, 2009 admin No comments

    msgMassage therapy is one of the oldest healing arts: Chinese records dating back 3,000 years document its use; the ancient Hindus, Persians and Egyptians applied forms of massage therapy for many ailments; and Hippocrates wrote papers recommending the use of rubbing and friction for joint and circulatory problems. Today, the benefits of massage therapy are varied and far-reaching. As an accepted part of many physical rehabilitation programs, massage therapy has also proven beneficial for many chronic conditions, including

    • low back pain
    • arthritis
    • bursitis
    • fatigue
    • high blood pressure
    • diabetes
    • immunity suppression
    • infertility
    • smoking cessation
    • depressionmassagetherapy

    and more. And, as many millions will attest, massage therapy also helps relieve the stress and tension of everyday living that can lead to disease and illness.

    Many cosmetology schools offer training in various massage therapy techniques, with courses ranging from beginning to advanced levels of instruction, as well as continuing education. Seminars on specific techniques, business practices and other relevant subjects are often conducted at massage therapy schools or are taught independently at other facilities.

  • Permanent Make-up: to ink or not to ink?

    Posted on August 19th, 2009 admin No comments

    permmkMake-up application is one thing….but permanent make-up, do I really want to look like I have make-up on ALL the time? What is the benefit of using permanent make-up?
    Permanent make-up can be useful for women who wish to wear make-up, but cannot apply it easily because of reasons such as:

    • a handicap or disability that restricts their mobility
    • blindness or a severe loss of vision
    • Carpal Tunnel
    • suffering from the side-effects of medication that makes their hands shake
    • restrictions of precise movement due to arthritis or multiple sclerosis

    Permanent make-up may also be used to camouflage scarring on the face or other parts of the body.

    Permanent make-up involves using tattoos as a way of creating the same effects as cosmetics. With a touch of artistic flair, a firm hand and specialized training, those studying permanent make-up will learn the most effective techniques for eyebrow simulation, lash enhancement, eye-lining, creating beauty marks, lip-lining and lip-staining. Many permanent make-up artists enjoy the flexibility of owning their own business.

  • Esthetician: skin-care specialists for the entire body

    Posted on August 17th, 2009 admin No comments

    skeEstheticians, also called skin care therapists, work in salons, day spas, and medi-spas. Estheticians are trained in the cosmetic treatment of the skin. They perform various cosmetic procedures including facials, body treatments, and waxing. Most estheticians offer a variety of specialty spa treatments.
    All estheticians must be licensed in the state in which they work. They must complete 260 to 600 hours of training (depending on the state) and pass both a written and a practical, or hands-on, exam.

    A good esthetician also completes many hours of post-graduate education, and strives to stay in tuned with the latest developments in skin care.

    Estheticians are not medical doctors and therefore can’t diagnose skin conditions, prescribe medications, or suggest treatment for any skin condition outside of cosmetic products. They can, however, perform treatment complementary to a doctor’s treatment. Some estheticians may work closely with dermatologists, either in-office or through a referral system.Estheticians, also called skin care therapists, work in salons, day spas, and medi-spas. With 90% of adolescents, 50% of women, and 25% of ALL adults suffering from acne problems, a career as an esthetician appears to be a wise choice. Cosmetology school provides the education, teaches the skills, and provides you the opportunity to build a career in cosmetology, specializing in skin-care.

    All states require an esthetician to obtain a basic or Masters License. The commitment for basic includes 600-750 hrs of cosmetology school, which a full-time student can complete in about 4 months. Cosmetology school tuition to become an esthetician, is around $3,000-$5,000 . For a Masters License esthetician, the required hours of cosmetology school range from 1200-1500. Cosmetology school full-time would take 8 months to complete, and the tuition costs would be $8,000-$10,000.

    In esthiology school the following skills and treatments will be learned

    * Skin Analysis
    * facial treatments
    * skin resurfacing
    * laser acne scar removal
    * chemical peels
    * microdermabrasion
    * laser skin re-surfacing
    * make-up selection and application
